Mappa Tassie- Canned!!!

The schwartz brothers love to eat ice cream too...

The Mappa Tassie is off!!! Thats right the last event is cancelled due to insufficient swell.
We are unable to delay the contest any longer due to uni commitments, as you can see we are keeping true to our "aim" ...

"Launceston University Surf Team..
A group of surfing uni students who excell in
balancing studies, parties and of course the surf!!"

I know it sucks but we are all spewin' too, we have decided to form a prize pool and have a third wave count back for the people who have drawn on the over all points, we will be holding a break up party next Friday arvo/night, (location to be disclosed at a later date) to present prizes and awards.. and also drink and eat on LUST...

In the mean time you should probably check this out... Those souless ginger bastards are dangerous, you will see what i mean after you check this out... it must be true if its on the internet...
http://retardzone.com/2007/11/13/millions-afflicted-by-gingervitis/

Mappa Tassie- Location to be released tomoz arvo

The mappa tassie location is going to be released tomorrow due to the weather and surf being unpredictable, hard to believe considering our luck with the surf in the last two contests!!

At the moment we are unable to delay the last contest of the year due to exams, tests and other university commitments, with this in mind the comp is most probably going to be held at either South Arm, Friendly Beaches or Scamander. These are the only Beaches showing the possiblility of having a contestable wave.

In the mean time feel free to email us with your swell predictions and where you think would be good...

Till tomorrow arvo.

Salty Oyster Classic

Righto,
for saturday the swell report is not looking to great for the east coast, also the current banks are not good either. With this in mind we are going to hold the comp at Tama. Tama should have a little wave tomorrow morning for the comp, and it will only get bigger through out the weekend. With this in mind the comp can still noly run Saturday morning.

As mentioned on an earlier email and also on the blogsite, this comp is going to be just for the opens mens division, due to time restrictions and the need to seperate competitors scores on the points board (LUSTRAM site, the link is on Blog site), also the next comp will have all 5 divisions.

9am- Sign up9:30- First Heat
Should be over by lunch time allowing plenty of time to study or drink before the Nautical Ball, LUST will put on a sausage sizzle for the competitors, before the presentation.

$10 to go in the competition for existing LUST members.
$25 for for those who need to become members.
All competiors will recieve a gift bag from RedHerring Surf!

Directions to Tama were posted on the blogsite a few months ago.

Looking forward to seeing you there!

This afternoon at 5 pm crew will be having a beer at the sea farers for the "pasta bridge competition", so if you need a ride tomoz you may be able to meet someone there and cruise in with them tomoz!

Salty Oyster Challenge...

Yeeeeahhhhh,

Its on this Saturday at Red Bill Beach. Bicheno. This time its only opens shortboard and wont have the same prize pool as the last comp. As we are saving prizes for the last comp (We will still have some don't worry...)

We have someone keeping an eye on the banks at Red Bill for us and we will post info later on in the week regarding registration and heat times and exact location.

Comp is open to all LUST members who have payed there $25, then its just $10 to go in the comp. Let ya uni mates know even if they are not members yet and we can sign them up on the day.

Also the Nautical Ball is on after the Comp at the Grand Chancellor, its going to go off! Those of you who have been before know what its about and those of you who haven't should get on board. Tickets are on sale (last day today) at the AMCSA, its open to all AMC/UTAS students and guests. So far most of the LUST crew I have spoken to are getting there tickets today or already have them.

Tama will be breaking all week so get up there and dust off some cob webs.

L.U.S.T teams up with the "Surfrider Foundation"

Ahoy there, great news!!!
We will be conducting a beach clean up after the Chocolate Barrels Classic at Tam O'Shanter with the aid of the Surfrider Foundation.
The Surfrider Foundation is a not for profit organisation dedicated to the protection and enjoyment of the world's oceans, waves and beaches for all people. Check out the web site, its pretty sick!
http://www.surfrider.org.au/
They also run some of the most remote and hardcore surf trips/beach clean ups around Tassie and the rest of the world. I wont say too much now as you can meet the boys on the day and ask them about it...
Ask them about the last trip to the South West Cape of Tas a couple of months ago.. mind blowing perfect surf and they collected over 4 tonnes of rubbish of the pristine beaches!

L.U.S.T members teamed up with the crew from "Red Herring Surf" to take part in the "Walk Against Want" fundraising event put on by Oxfam as part of the "Make Poverty History" movement in Launceston last Sunday morning.
Members from Red Herring and LUST collected money from the public to donate to the charity in the week leading up to the event. Good weather was enjoyed as was the use of extremely tight fluro shorts supplied by Victor at Red Herring which gained allot of attention from the passers by on the walk from Royal park to the first Basin and back.
